It’s early in the morning. You don’t
want to get up. Not just because you’re tired, but because you
don’t want to go to school. Maybe you had a fight with your
friends. Maybe you are embarrassed that your parents aren’t letting
you go to a party that everyone else will attend. Maybe you don’t
have the right clothes. Maybe you just feel like you don’t fit in
and no one understands you.
The good news is, high school is
temporary. It is four years-- 1,460 days. Yes, that’s a big number.
Yes, it’s a significant stage in your life as you transition from
being a kid to becoming an adult. But it will not last forever, and
it doesn’t have to define who you are.
High school can be a time where you
truly discover yourself. Find out what your talents are or what you
really enjoy doing. Don’t waste time worrying about others’
opinions of you. Just be yourself. Invest in friends who value you
for who you are-- and they just may be your friends for the rest of
your life. Be patient with your parents. They have your best interest
at heart, even if they have a weird way of showing it. Try to
communicate with them as best you can.
It doesn’t last forever. Just get
through it-- you can achieve more than you think you can.
