Welcome to the One Question Blog. We ask all our visitors "If you could ask God one Question, what would it be?" When people respond, we give it our best shot and try to answer their questions. If it is a question we can answer, we post it in this blog. Registered users can also try to answer each other's questions by going to a user's profile and clicking on "Answer My Question." If you have a question, feel free to submit it by e-mailing us, or commenting on one of the blog entries.
Long Answer: A lot of times, we wonder if it is okay to pray about the small stuff. Is praying about a test at school too trivial for God? Is it a waste of God’s time to pray that your stubbed toe will stop hurting soon? Shouldn’t we save our prayers for more important things like world peace, starving children and friends who don’t know God? While it is true that some things are more important than others, you are important to God. If something is important to you— even if it isn’t a big deal on the surface— it is important to God. Don’t be afraid of wasting God’s time, he is above time and isn’t looking at his watch while you’re praying. You can pray about whatever is on your mind. It is our relationship with God that is most important, even if that means occasionally praying about not burning a pizza in the oven.
Short Answer: Nobody is worthy on their own merits.
Long Answer: No one who rebels against God is worthy of making it to Heaven. At some point in our lives, everyone is going to tell a lie, disobey their parents, have lustful thoughts, be jealous of something someone else has and have something in life they value more than God. That was just five of the Ten Commandments. Easy to break isn’t it? When we break God’s laws we are in rebellion against God. The Bible calls this rebellion sin, and if you sin you are not worthy of making it to Heaven.
But: God is forgiving. He knows that everyone sins and He knows we can’t be worthy of Heaven if we sin. That’s where Jesus comes in. Jesus is the only person to ever live a life without sin. He was crucified, as though he were a criminal and as though He was a sinner— and he died like a sinner. When He did this, He made it possible to forgive the sins of all who would follow Him.
Final Answer: You are not worthy of making it to Heaven, but Jesus is. In Jesus we find the only way to enter Heaven.
